Mental Health First Aid - Blended workshops

Workplace – Blended MHFA

The course teaches managers, supervisors and individuals how to assist a co-worker who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Course content is tailored to the workplace setting using case-studies, videos and resources.

Combination of eLearning (approx. 6 to 8 hours) and half-day face-to-face workshop. eLearning teaches participants about mental health problems, mental health crises, and skills to offer initial help to a co-worker. Half-day face-to-face workshop allows participants the opportunity to revise and apply knowledge and skills learnt in the eLearning to workplace scenarios.

After completing the eLearning and the half-day workshop, participants can complete an online assessment to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider.

Depression

Anxiety

Psychosis

Substance misuse

Mental health crises covered:

Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

Non-suicidal self-injury (deliberate self-harm)

Panic attacks

Traumatic events

Severe psychotic states

Acute effects from alcohol or drug misuse

Aggressive behaviours

Legal Professionals – Blended MHFA

Insolvency Professionals – Blended MHFA

The course teaches managers, supervisors and individuals how to assist a co-worker or person in financial distress who is developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Course content is tailored to the workplace setting using case-studies, videos and resources.

Combination of eLearning (approx. 6 to 8 hours) and a half-day face-to-face workshop. eLearning teaches participants about mental health problems, mental health crises, and skills to offer initial help to a co-worker or person in financial distress. Tertiary Students – Blended MHFA

The course teaches tertiary students how to assist a fellow student who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Course content is tailored to the student setting using case-studies, videos and resources tailored to their learning needs.

Combination of eLearning (approx. 6 to 8 hours) and a half-day face-to-face workshop. eLearning teaches participants about mental health problems, mental health crises, and skills to offer initial help to a fellow student. The half-day face-to-face workshop allows participants the opportunity to revise and apply knowledge and skills learnt in the eLearning to relevant scenarios and examine issues pertinent to mental health problems in the student population in more depth.

After completing the eLearning and the half-day workshop, participants can complete an online assessment to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider.
